FB Valley’s Health and Safety Program started at the grass roots level in the company’s early days and has since become a driving force behind the company’s principles of a positive safety culture and team-driven safety initiatives. FB Valley’s Health and Safety Program is supported by the company’s core value: “We Work Safe!”
Safety and work knowledge come first at FB Valley. Our team will make every effort to ensure our clients are happy and satisfied with the work we do, and to consistently foster a culture of health, safety, and hard work across all our operations. We empower our staff to work hard and work safe with up-to-date training, carefully planned work methods, a positive company culture, and strong core values. The FB Valley team is comprised of planners, journeyman linemen (with over 60 years combined experience in the power line trade), power line apprentices, drivers/operators, trades trainees, vehicle mechanics, and safety and administrative personnel. Our crew members are all PSSP (Power System Safety Protection) authorized and have completed several environmental training courses.
FB Valley successfully completed the Certificate of Recognition (COR) through the British Columbia Construction Safety Alliance (BCCSA); we are proud to be COR certified. Our company has developed several exclusive safety programs, including an In-House Asbestos Training Program (specific to the underground utility industry), Light Trailer Training Program, and a COVID-19 Daily Health Check (also effective for contact tracing).
We have a well-sustained relationship with the BC Safety Authority, and we are proud to use our health and safety resources and expertise to aid in any emergency—large or small—situation where there is a need. When Hurricane Sandy shook the lives of millions of people in November of 2012, FB Valley crews drove 4,800 km non-stop across Canada and the U.S. to provide emergency relief—not only in the form of power restoration, but also first aid.
